The Role 🥳 As coding agents get more powerful, the biggest lever is no longer about shipping features faster — it's building the factory that ships every feature. At Relevance AI, that's what we're building: an end-to-end system where coding agents pick up a task, build it, test it, review it, and deploy it safely, at speed. We've proven pieces of this already; the next frontier is making it reliable and scalable across every team. In this role, you’ll own our developer experience, platform infrastructure, reliability and the factory that enables our whole engineering team to out-build with agents. You'll get to shape the foundations of our AI-native platform which everything else depends upon. This is one of the highest leverage roles in the company: every system you build multiplies every engineer, and every agent, working alongside them — and the infrastructure and cost calls you make is what enables a small AI-native team out-ship a much larger one. We are willing to sponsor engineers relocating from overseas to Australia. How We Build ⚒️ We believe that AI is fundamentally changing software and what it means to be an engineer. That means our team works differently: AI engineering (coding agents, loops, eval) is a core part of every engineer's workflow. Engineers own customer problems end-to-end, not just implementation. We prototype quickly, validate with customers, and iterate relentlessly. We ship continuously, often multiple times a day. We care about product impact as much as technical quality. We don't see platform engineering as a gated function or a black box. You'll bring deep expertise and help the wider team build real understanding and ownership of it, not just depend on you for it. That means working hands-on alongside application engineers, with knowledge flowing both ways. Meet The Team 👋 Paulwyn, Head of Engineering Peter, Engineering Manager Your Impact 💥 Own our developer experience and factory — the build, test, deploy, and local-dev loop that lets engineers and agents ship fast, with confidence. Build agent-safe environments — sandboxes, guardrails, and context that let agents investigate issues, build, review work and ship autonomously. Own reliability, end-to-end — SLOs, on-call health, observability, incident response and prevention. Own our cloud infrastructure and cost — AWS, scalability, and spend visibility for the org. Design and evolve platform capabilities that work across multiple teams and support multiple engineers and agents contributing code. Remove systemic bottlenecks — every fix compounds across engineering, not just your own team. Share platform expertise openly, educate the wider engineering team, and create clear paths for others to contribute to infrastructure and platform changes. Who We’re Looking For 🧠 In one-line: a staff platform builder who cares deeply about developer experience and owning the factory - product-minded, AI-native by default and driven to multiply everyone else's output. You'll likely thrive here if you demonstrate: AI-Native Building: You push the frontier of what coding agents can do, and have built the environments, guardrails, evaluation frameworks and context that allows agents to build safely at speed for others, not just for yourself. Product Thinking & Judgement: You prioritise platform work by its downstream impact on shipping customer outcomes, not by gold-plating infrastructure. You can talk about who used what you built and why it mattered. Platform and Infrastructure Depth: You've owned developer experience, CI/CD, build/deploy tooling and cloud infrastructure for a shipping team, and you think in leverage: your proudest work made everyone else faster.
