I’m partnering with a small, established CPA firm in Cherry Creek looking to add an experienced Tax Manager to their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply preparing returns and take on a client-facing, advisory-focused role with direct exposure to firm leadership. They’re looking for someone with strong technical tax knowledge who also enjoys building relationships, mentoring others, and helping clients make better tax decisions throughout the year.
What They’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in AccountingCPA or EAStrong public accounting tax backgroundSignificant experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returnsStrong knowledge of S Corporations (1120-S) and Individuals (1040) in particularExperience with Partnerships (1065) and C Corporations (1120)Ability to independently review returns and identify technical issues, planning opportunities, and potential risksExperience working directly with clients and participating in tax planning and advisory conversationsStrong communication and relationship-building skillsAbility to manage multiple engagements, priorities, and deadlinesCollaborative approach with experience mentoring and developing junior staff
What You’ll Be Doing:
Review complex individual and business tax returns with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and potential planning opportunitiesOversee tax engagements from initial planning through final deliveryMeet directly with clients to discuss tax strategy, planning opportunities, and year-round financial considerationsServe as a primary point of contact for clients and develop long-term advisory relationshipsIdentify proactive strategies that may reduce clients’ tax exposure and improve their overall tax positionResearch technical tax issues and translate findings into practical recommendations for clientsWork closely with firm leadership on complex client matters and strategic tax planningProvide technical guidance and review feedback to staff while supporting their professional developmentCoordinate workflow across multiple client engagements to ensure deadlines and service expectations are metAssist clients with tax questions and planning needs throughout the year rather than only during filing seasonContribute to a collaborative, client-focused environment where technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills are equally valued
Nice to Have:
International tax exposure is a plus, but not requiredExperience advising closely held businesses and their ownersStrong tax research capabilitiesExperience developing or mentoring tax staffInterest in expanding into more sophisticated tax planning and advisory work
