The role

The Data Center Technician Manager leads hands-on technical teams responsible for cabling, hardware installation, and day-to-day data center operations. This role balances people leadership, technical execution, and operational rigor in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and mentor a team of data center technicians supporting fiber, copper cabling, racking, stacking, and infrastructure installs.

• Oversee installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage cabling and communications infrastructure.

• Ensure high-quality execution of fiber and copper terminations, testing, and remediation of complex issues.

• Own and enforce MOP/CMOP processes, change control, and operational best practices.

• Manage work through ticketing and infrastructure management systems, ensuring timely and accurate completion.

• Maintain accurate documentation, port maps, and inventory, supporting audits and operational readiness.

• Drive incident response and escalation for technical issues, ensuring SLA adherence and rapid resolution.

• Lead the use of specialized test equipment (e.g., DSX, OTDR), including test planning and results validation.

• Enforce safety, compliance, and quality standards, promoting a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

• Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and project teams to support deployments, expansions, and upgrades.

We expect you to have:

• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on experience in IT, networking, or technical services.

• 5+ years of data center or infrastructure experience, including cabling and hardware deployments.

• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams in a mission-critical environment.

• Strong working knowledge of structured cabling standards (BICSI, ANSI/TIA, NEC).

• Experience with fiber optics, copper cabling, servers, networking equipment, and power distribution basics.

• Ability to participate in on-call rotations and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs).

It will be an added bonus if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field.

• Industry certifications (e.g., BICSI, CDCP, CompTIA, ITIL).

• Experience in large-scale data center builds or migrations.

• Familiarity with Linux, scripting (Python/Bash), and data center management tools.

• Strong organizational, communication, and customer-facing skills.
